LIFE CYCLE OF A FLOWER

ALEXANDER MCQUEEN

The relationship between people and flowers goes beyond the synergetic connection between visual characteristics and social meanings. The relational embodied element of human-floral connection is represented in physical and psychological characteristics.⁣⁣⁣

⁣⁣⁣

10 years after the passing of icon Alexander McQueen, the fashion industry continues to hide the mental struggles of creatives in all aspects of the industry. McQueen impacted fashion like no other, and his death was a shock to the world.

Knowledge can have a tremendous impact on how individuals, societies, and the public health community deal with mental disorders.⁣⁣⁣

For my senior capstone, I wanted to raise awareness on the issue and shine a light on the very real and not so glamorous side of the industry. It’s time the industry makes a change, and I believe if any fashion house were to speak up about this taboo topic, the house McQueen would have the perfect story to do so.⁣⁣⁣⁣⁣

“It is important to look at death because it is a part of life. It is a sad thing, melancholy but romantic at the same time. It is the end of a cycle - everything has to end. The cycle of life is positive because it gives room for new things.”
